Furnishing Lives. Protecting Our Planet.

Furniture Share Landfill Diversion

Every year, thousands of pieces of quality furniture and household items are discarded simply because they are no longer needed, not because they have reached the end of their useful life.

At Furniture Share, we believe these items deserve a second chance. By rescuing gently used furniture and essential household goods, we keep valuable resources out of local landfills while providing families, veterans, seniors, and individuals experiencing furniture poverty with the basic furnishings they need to create safe, stable, and comfortable homes.

In 2025, we diverted more than 282.5 tons of furniture and household goods from local landfills.
The Impact Of Reuse

One donated item creates more than one kind of good.

Landfill diversion is one of the many ways Furniture Share creates a lasting impact on our community and environment.

Every donated bed, dresser, table, couch, or household item that is reused reduces waste, conserves natural resources, lowers greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacturing new products, and extends the life of materials that would otherwise be discarded.

Reduces Landfill Waste

Every donated bed, dresser, table, couch, or household item that is reused stays out of the local waste stream.

Conserves Resources

Extending the life of useful materials reduces the need to manufacture replacement products and consume new natural resources.

Lowers Emissions

Reuse lowers greenhouse gas emissions associated with manufacturing new products and helps make every local donation go further.

Strengthens Community

Reuse helps provide essential furnishings so neighbors can create safe, stable, and comfortable homes.

Reuse is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect our environment while strengthening our community.

Coming August 2026

Thrift Store & Donation Center

Beginning in August 2026, Furniture Share will expand its sustainability efforts with the opening of our Thrift Store & Donation Center.

This exciting new venture will allow us to accept even more donated furniture and household items, keeping additional usable goods out of the landfill. Items that exceed the immediate needs of our client families will be offered for sale in the thrift store, generating sustainable funding to support Furniture Share's programs and services.

Every donation and every purchase will help reduce waste, protect the environment, and provide hope and essential furnishings to families throughout Benton, Linn, and Lincoln counties.
