1st Annual ASK Brunch

September 28, 2022

Friends, Have you heard the Starfish Story? The Starfish Story also known as the Star Thrower is the title of a 1969 essay written by Loren Eiseley. The Starfish Story tells of a young girl walking along a beach after a terrible storm which washed up thousands of starfish. This young girl is throwing starfish back into the water, when someone defeatingly tells the girl that she cannot save them all, cannot really make a difference. To which she replies “But I made a difference for that one!” When we think about the needs of the world, our nation, our state, and our community, it can feel daunting. But…what if we could make a difference for even one family? One Person? One Child? Moving into a home is a momentous occasion for anyone who has been houseless for some time. An empty apartment or house is full of possibilities. But finding affordable housing is just the beginning of having a functioning home. What about a bed to sleep in, blankets to keep warm, pots and pans for cooking, a couch to sit on? For those seeking assistance in acquiring household essentials, Furniture Share is a great resource. What if something so simple really was the difference they needed to be a better parent, a better spouse, co-worker, student, or family unit? Would you say yes? We invite you to help make a difference by attending Furniture Share’s 1st Annual ASK Brunch. You’ll hear stories from speakers which include a client, a referring agency, and supporters. Please join us on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Hope Community Church in Albany, Oregon for a brunch from 11:30-1:00 PM. For more information or to RSVP, please reach out to Michelle Robinson or Drew Smythe either by phone or email with questions. We would love to have you there.
